ACBL Moves 71,000-Pound Truck Beds for Boyd CAT

March 30, 2026

When Boyd CAT needed to move three 71,000-pound truck beds from Houston to the Ohio River region, transporting them intact was critical to meeting a time-sensitive January delivery.

Each bed — built for a CAT 793 haul truck — measured over 44 feet long and 24 feet wide. Moving the equipment in one piece helped avoid cutting and rewelding at destination, reducing additional handling and labor that would have been required if the beds were transported in sections.

With a long-standing working relationship in place, Boyd CAT reached out to ACBL to explore whether barge transport could support the move.

When we needed support moving this equipment, ACBL was our first call.

Neilly also credited his working relationship with Ron Schneider, Director of Reliability, as a key factor in bringing the right teams together and moving the project forward. These are the kinds of connections that turn conversations into action.

Once the plan was in place, ACBL’s Sales and Operations teams coordinated the shipment from planning through delivery. The beds were loaded by crane and secured on a barge, then made their way upriver and delivered on the needed timeline.

ACBL has long relied on Boyd CAT for service and support across its fleet. This move marked a different chapter in that relationship — with Boyd CAT turning to ACBL to support a transportation need of their own. It’s a reminder that strong partnerships create mutual value and often extend beyond a single project.

Moves like this don’t happen by accident. They require coordination, trust, and the right people working together, and they highlight ACBL’s ability to move special cargo safely and efficiently when partners need a reliable path forward.
